The MS-Z5 is a security hammer mill capable of physically destroying all types of confidential media. Despite its compact design tailored for office environments, the destruction size can be adjusted to match your required security level, meeting a wide range of needs—from speed-oriented, high-volume processing to security-focused, fine-particle destruction.

Based on over half a century of know-how in manufacturing sand-making crushers that reduce hard stone to sand size in a single pass for the mining and quarrying industry, this machine features an optimal mechanism for pulverizing hard media into pieces.

In Japan, our products are widely trusted and deployed across all sectors—including central government ministries, the Self-Defense Forces, financial institutions, educational institutions, manufacturers, and secure data destruction providers.

Both the dust bin and the cabinet door are fully transparent, allowing operators to visually confirm and verify that the data destruction process is being executed securely in real time.

To ensure the highest level of information security, the dust bin compartment is equipped with a lockable door, effectively preventing unauthorized personnel from accessing or removing destroyed media particles. Furthermore, the main power switch is located inside this locked cabinet. This dual-layer restriction ensures that unauthorized individuals cannot operate the machine inadvertently or without permission, protecting your facility from both data theft and unauthorized machine usage.

In the event of a temporary overcurrent, the automatic protection circuit will trip and stop the operation.

The machine will automatically shut down if it detects overheating, such as from continuous heavy load or extended operation regardless of the load.
The machine will automatically shut down for protection if a current exceeding the motor or inverter rating persists for a certain period.

For maximum operator safety, the machine is equipped with an automatic safety interlock system. If the dust bin compartment door is opened, or if any maintenance covers are removed, the machine will instantly and automatically shut down. This fail-safe mechanism eliminates the risk of accidental operation during maintenance or disposal, ensuring a completely secure and hazard-free working environment.

The machine automatically stops when the dust bin is full.

If the motor experiences an excessive load, an indicator light turns on to alert the operator, prompting them to pause media feeding until the load decreases. However, with some media, to ensure proper operation, it is best to wait until the grinding sound disappears completely before feeding the next media, regardless of the indicator light status.

Equipped with casters for easy mobility.

Equipped with anti-tipping adjusters to secure the machine in place, safely preventing any accidental damage to the unit or injury to operators.

How the Physical Destruction Works
Unlike conventional media shredders that rely on a “cutting” method, this machine utilizes a “crushing” system that breaks down items through the high-speed impact of rotating hammers.
This allows it to handle hard confidential media that traditional shredders struggle to process—such as Hard Disk Drives (HDDs), SSDs, flash memory, smartphones, and magnetic tapes. Naturally, it also processes standard media typically handled by conventional shredders, including floppy disks (FDs), CDs/DVDs/BDs, and credit cards.

Smart, Screen-Based Size Control: Balancing Security, Speed, and Cost
A screen is installed at the discharge section inside the crushing chamber, ensuring the media fed into the machine is continuously destroyed until it is small enough to pass through. Since this screen is easily replaceable, you can instantly adjust the destruction size to match your exact security requirements.
In scenarios where processing speed is prioritized over strict secrecy, unnecessarily fine destruction is simply a waste of time and cost. By upgrading or swapping to a screen with larger holes, you can instantly boost operational efficiency.
Even if your target media or data sensitivity changes in the future, you can adapt to new demands simply by purchasing a different screen. This completely eliminates the need to replace the entire machine, making it a highly economical, future-proof investment over the long term.

Unmatched Throughput Capacity: Lower Labor Costs, Higher Security
Because the system relies on a high-impact crushing method, items that are easily shattered by impact—such as CDs/DVDs, circuit boards, and flash memory—can be fed into the machine in large bulk loads, delivering overwhelming processing speed.
Minimizing physical destruction time not only reduces the labor costs associated with the operation but also enhances security by significantly shortening the window of time recorded media is left unattended.

Hassle-Free Maintenance & Worry-Free Support
The machine features a simple structure, resulting in minimal breakdowns and high reliability.
The primary consumable parts are light enough to be held with one hand and can be replaced manually using only the included standard tools. No specialized technical skills are required—in fact, at Japanese central government ministries, non-technical administrative staff handle the routine maintenance themselves. Because almost all maintenance can be performed right on-site, there are virtually no cases where the machine needs to be sent back to the factory for repairs.
When considering overseas products, you might often feel anxious about parts supply and after-sales service; however, with our products, there is absolutely no need for such concern.

Design and specifications are subject to change without notice for product improvement.

1) If the SSD is 9.5 mm or thicker (that means Enterprise Solid State), the case or heatsink must be removed so that only the circuit boards (PCBs) should be fed into the machine.

2) Maximum input size is approximately 100 mm × 100 mm. Please remove any metal heat sinks or thick metallic parts prior to destruction.

3) WARNING: Always remove lithium-ion batteries prior to destruction. Only the circuit boards (PCBs) should be fed into the machine.

4) This model is designed exclusively for consumer-grade 2.5″ HDDs with glass platters (thickness of 9.5mm or less). It is strictly incompatible with 3.5″ and server used 2.5″ HDDs.

5) The price of the main machine includes one type of screen of your choice. If you require a second or subsequent screen, the cost for the additional screen(s) will be charged separately.

6) Depending on the media, some screen sizes cannot be used. Please consult your dealer for details.

7) The achievable security level depends on the screen size.

8) Throughput varies depending on the screen size and type of media.

Q1. Is the machine too loud during operation?

Here are the specific measurements taken 1 meter from the front of the machine:

・At No-Load (Idle): Approx. 60 dB
・During Destruction: Noise levels vary depending on the media. The peak noise occurs at the exact moment the internal hammers strike the media, which then gradually decreases. For our maximum-load test using a 2.5″ HDD, the instantaneous peak noise reaches approx. 80 dB.

Q2. How durable is the machine?

The replacement cycle depends heavily on the type of media processed, volume, and the destruction size selected. However, maintenance requirements are minimal and designed to be user-friendly:

・Replacement Frequency: In many cases, components can last for several years without needing replacement. Even under heavy-duty, high-volume operations, changing the internal hammers just 1 to 2 times a year is typically sufficient.

・Easy User Maintenance: Replacing major wear parts is simple and straightforward. Users can easily perform the replacement themselves, minimizing machine downtime and eliminating the need for costly technician service calls.

Q3. What screen size comes standard with the machine?

You can select one screen size of your choice at no additional cost, as it is included in the base machine price.

Upon ordering, please specify the screen size that best fits your destruction requirements. If you require multiple sizes for different security levels, the second and subsequent screens are available as optional add-ons for an additional fee.
